The Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA) was set up to work in parallel with the Innovation Technology Arrangement and Services Act (ITAS). The ITAS provides that an arrangement or service having the characteristics of an ITA or ITS is eligible to be recognised as such by MDIA, subject to the Authority’s written ruling on eligibility. Finally the Virtual Financial Asset Act regulates the issuing of ICOs and services related to Virtual Financial Assets for operators operating in or from within Malta to ensure the highest degree of consumer and investor protection.
